In 1956, Anshan Iron and Steel Seamless Steel Tube Plant produced the first batch of geological drill pipes in China in accordance with the original Soviet standard ЧMTY 3343-1953 "Geological Drill Pipe". In 1957, Anshan Iron and Steel formulated the enterprise standard Saddle Standard 438-1957 according to ЧMTY 3343-1953. ; In 1960, Shanghai Steel Pipe Factory began to produce geological pipes (45 steel). In 1957, the former Ministry of Metallurgy issued the Ministry of Metallurgical Standard "Geological Drilling Rod Pipe" smelting standard 21-1957, which was revised to YB 235-1963 in 1963. In 1970, the original metallurgical The Ministry revised the two standards and merged them into one standard "Steel Pipe for Geological Drilling" YB 235-1970.
 
After the publication of the standard, seamless steel pipe manufacturers such as Anshan Iron and Steel Seamless Steel Tube Plant, Chengdu Seamless Steel Tube Plant, Shanghai Steel Tube Plant, and Beijing Steel Plant generally produced DZ40, DZ50 and DZ55 steel grades of small and medium diameter geological pipes according to this standard, and began to develop them. Production and supply of DZ60, DZ65 steel grade geological drilling pipes. Large-diameter geological pipes are mainly produced and supplied by Chengdu Seamless Steel Tube Plant.
 
In the mid-1970s, with the introduction of diamond drilling technology, the former Ministry of Metallurgy, based on the Swedish CMS and Japanese JIS standards, formulated the YB 848-1975 "Small-diameter Drilling Steel Pipe" standard, which was officially promulgated and implemented in 1975. With the development of diamond drilling technology in China, the YB 848-1975 standard is no longer suitable for production requirements. In order to adapt to the international standard, we have drawn on the American DCDMA standard and formulated the national standard GB 3423-1982 for diamond core drills using seamless steel tubes. , Replacing YB 848-1975.
 
In 1982, Wuxi Steel Plant began trial production, production and supply of DZ75 steel grade cold drawn steel pipes for geological drilling. The production specifications are Φ55.5mm×4.75mm, Φ73mm×5mm and Φ88.5mm×5.5mm.
 
In 1987, Chengdu Seamless Steel Pipe Factory formulated the enterprise standard Q/CG 51-1987 for "Seamless Steel Pipe for Geological Drilling" according to the domestic demand for hot-rolled large and medium-diameter geological drilling pipes (modified in 1999 as "Smooth Pipe for Geological Drilling" "Q/CG 51-1999), some large-diameter steel pipe specifications (not in YB 235-1970) have been added to the standard, so that the outer diameter series, wall thickness and technical requirements of geological drilling pipes are basically consistent with the API standards. It overcomes the deficiencies of the metallurgical standard YB 235-1970 and meets the needs of geological drilling pipes in my country.
 
In 1993, the country adjusted the management of national standards. The national standard "Diamond core drills using seamless steel pipes" GB/T 3423-1982 was adjusted to the industry standard. The former Ministry of Metallurgy revised it and published it as a ministerial recommendation. Standard YB/T 5052-1993.
