Q215 steel
Q215 steel
Q215 steel is a carbon structural steel in China (GB / 700-1999). "Q" is the first letter of Chinese spelling of "Qu Fu Dian", translated as Yield Strength, "215" is a abbreviation for the unit value “215 MPa”, so it is called Q215 steel
Q215 steel is generally smelted by converter or open hearth. Its main raw materials are hot metal and scrap steel. The content of sulfur and phosphorus in steel is higher than that of high-quality carbon structural steel. Generally, sulfur is ≤0.050% and phosphorus is ≤0.045%. The content of other alloy elements brought into the steel from the raw materials, such as chromium, nickel, and copper generally does not exceed 0.30%.
According to Q215 steel impurity element (sulfur, phosphorus) content from high to low and accompanied by changes in carbon and manganese elements, it is divided into Q215A and Q215B, two grades.
Q215 Steel Equivalent Grade
Q215 Steel Application
Q215 steel has a wide range of uses. Q215 steel is often rolled into plates, profiles (round, square, flat, work, grooves, angles, etc.) and special profiles, as well as manufacturing welded steel pipes. Mainly used in building structures such as factory buildings, bridges, ships and pipelines for general fluid transportation. The steel is generally used without heat treatment.

Q215 Steel main characteristics
Q215 steel has high plasticity, toughness and welding performance, good pressure processing performance, but low strength.
